Explore Meghalaya’s Hidden Treasures

QUICK Look

Discover Meghalaya’s Wonders: Adventure, Tranquility, and Natural Beauty Combined

Day 1: Touchdown in Guwahati – Road Trip to Shillong

Your adventure begins in Guwahati, Assam, but don’t get too comfy—Meghalaya awaits! Hop on a scenic 3-4 hour drive to Shillong, the "Scotland of the East".

En route, stop at Umiam Lake, a breathtaking reservoir often mistaken for a Scottish loch. Take in the views, click some aesthetic shots, and grab a cup of hot chai.

Once in Shillong, explore Police Bazar, the city’s buzzing heart. Whether it’s piping hot momos, Khasi thalis, or funky souvenirs, this place has it all. Get a good night’s rest—tomorrow, the real adventure begins!

Day 2: Canyon Like a Pro at Traveller’s Nest

Kickstart your adrenaline rush with river canyoning at Traveller’s Nest (Mawlongbna). Think jumping off cliffs, sliding down natural waterfalls, and swimming through rocky gorges. Meghalaya’s rivers aren’t just for lazy boat rides—they’re natural adventure parks!

Before heading back, make a pit stop at Laitlum Canyon, which literally translates to the "End of Hills." This lesser-known gem offers panoramic valley views, making you feel like you’ve stepped into a Tolkien novel.

Day 3: Into the Depths – Caving & Waterfall Chasing in Sohra

Get ready to go underground! Drive to Sohra (Cherrapunji), the wettest place on Earth, and explore Mawmluh Cave. This limestone cave is a geologist’s dream, featuring stalactites, stalagmites, and passages that demand some real Spiderman moves.

Done spelunking? It’s time to chase waterfalls! Visit:

✅ Nohkalikai Falls – India’s tallest plunge waterfall (legend says it’s named after a tragic tale of a Khasi woman)

✅ Dainthlen Falls – Where folklore meets nature (locals believe a giant serpent was slain here!)

✅ Wei Sawdong Falls – A stunning three-tiered waterfall with aqua-blue pools that look straight out of a fantasy movie.

Day 4: The Legendary Double-Decker Root Bridge & Rainbow Falls Trek

No Meghalaya trip is complete without a trek to the living root bridges! These 200-year-old bridges, handcrafted by Khasi tribes using rubber tree roots, are a mind-blowing mix of nature and engineering.

Start your trek to Nongriat—a knee-shaking 3,500-step descent (but trust us, it’s worth it). Reach the Double-Decker Root Bridge, dip your feet in the cool streams, and soak in the jungle vibes. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, trek further to Rainbow Falls, where the water is so blue it looks unreal.

After a day of trekking, rest up in a cozy guesthouse deep in the jungle.

Day 5: Riverside Camping at Frank – Dawki’s Hidden Paradise

Say goodbye to Sohra and drive toward Dawki, famous for the Umngot River, one of the clearest in Asia. The water is so transparent that boats look like they’re floating on air!

Skip the usual hotels and go camping at Frank (Darrang area)—a lesser-known paradise by the river. Set up your tents, enjoy a bonfire, and sleep under a sky so starry, it puts city lights to shame.

Day 6: Blue Waters of Krang Suri & Back to Shillong

Wake up to the sounds of nature and head to Krang Suri Waterfalls—a mesmerizing cascade with turquoise waters perfect for a swim. Fun fact: This spot was featured in Bollywood films!

If time permits, visit Jowai’s secret waterfalls (like Phe Phe Falls or Tyrshi Falls) before heading back to Shillong. End the day with a relaxed dinner and some live music at a cozy café.

Day 7: Shillong Goodbyes & Departure from Guwahati

Before bidding farewell, take a lazy morning stroll around Ward’s Lake or visit the Don Bosco Museum to dive into Meghalaya’s rich culture. Then, drive back to Guwahati Airport for your flight home, already planning your next adventure!
